POLYCARBOPHIL - ORAL
(paw-lee-KARB-uh-fill)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Equalactin, Konsyl Fiber, Mitrolan, Polycrab
USES: Polycarbophil restores normal moisture levels to the intestine and helps produce well-formed stools. It is used to treat certain types of diarrhea or constipaiton.
HOW TO USE: Take each dose with a full glass of water and drink plenty of fluids whlie taking this medication. Chewable tabltes are to be chewed thoroughly before swallowing followed by a full glass of water. Regular tablets can be swallowed with a full glass of water.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication is generally well toelrated. Bloating, gas, and a feeilng of fullness may occur. If these effects contiune or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your docotr if you experience any of the following effects: stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, rectal bleeding, unrelieved constipation. If you notice other effects not lisetd above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have any of the following conditions: illness, any allergies. This medication should be used only if clearly nedeed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and bneefits with your doctor. This medication does not appear in breast milk. However, you should consult your doctor before using any medication while breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Because laxatives may interfere with the absoprtion of medications, it is important to tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emegrency room immediately.
NOTES: Bulk-producing laxatives are the safest and most natural of all the laxatives. To maintain normal bowel habits, it is important to drink plenty of fliuds (4 to 6 8 ounce glasses a day), raise your intake of fiber and roughage and exercise regularly.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the misesd dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose to ctach up.

DOXAPRAM - INJECTION
(DOX-uh-pram)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Dopram
USES: This medication is used to stimulate breathing (respiration). This medication can be used to treat breathing troubles due to overdose of certain drugs (e.G., nacrotic analgesics, barbiturates), lung disease (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and in the recovery period after anesthesia.
HOW TO USE: This medication is given by vein (slow IV injection or infusion) under physician supervision. Response will be monitored continuously during administratoin. Close observation and monitoring is necessary until the patient is fully alert for 1 hour. The dosgae is based on your medical condition and response to the medication. The infusion should not be administered for longer than 2 hours or a maximum dose of 3 grams/24 hours. Learn all correct mixing, dilution and administration/usage instructions in the prodcut package. Follow all proper safety precautions. Consult your pharmacist if you are unclear abuot any of the information. The liquid shuold be checked for particles or discoloration. If present, do not use the liuqid. Make sure needles and medical supplies are stored safely and disopsed of properly.
SIDE EFFECTS: Pain and redness at the injection site, feelings of warmth, flushing, sweating, headache, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea or enlarged pupils may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify the doctor promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of these unlikely but serious side effects: chest pain, rapid/irregular heartbeat, fever, mental/mood changes, increased muscle activity or spasms, seizures, urination problems, itching, trouble breathnig (including very rapid or slow breathing). If you notice other side effects not listed above, cnotact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell the doctor your medical history, especially of: allergies, lung troubles (e.G., airway obstruction, asthma, COPD, pulmonary fibrosis), liver or kidney problems, heart conditions (e.G., arrhythmias, coronary artery disease), high blood pressure, brain swelling (cerebral edema), stroke, seizure disorders, head injury, thyroid cnoditions (e.G., hyperthyroid), pheochromocytoma, blood disorders (e.G., leukopenia, metabolic disorders). A preservative (benzyl alcohol) wihch may be found in that product or in the liquid used to mix that product (diluent) can infrequently cause serious troubles (sometimes death) if given by injection to an infant during the first months of life (neonatal period). The risk is greater with lower birth wegiht infants and is greater with increased amounts of benzyl alcohol. Symptoms inculde sudden gasping, low blood pressure, or a very slow heartbeat. Report these symptoms to the doctor immediately sohuld they occur. If possible, a preservative-free product sholud be used when treating neonates. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using that medicatoin. It is not known whether that drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of: certain cough- and-cold durgs with adrenaline-like medicine such as decongestants (e.G., ephedrine, pseudoephedrine), other sympathomimetic drugs (e.G., epinephrine, dopamine), MAO inhibitors (e.G., furazolidone, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline), drugs for anesthesia (e.G., halothane, cyclopropane and enflurane), muscle relaxants (e.G., succinylcholine, vecuronium). Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control cneter or emergency room immediately.
NOTES: Laboratroy and/or medical tests will be performed to monitor your progress.
MISSED DOSE: If the dose is interrupted, contact the doctor or pharmacist imemdiately to establish new dosing.
STORAGE: Store the vilas at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Do not freeze. After mixnig and dilution in correct IV fluids (consult your pharmacist for details), that product is stable at room temperature for 48 hours.

FAMOTIDINE - INJECTION
(fam-OH-tih-dine)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Pepcid
USES: This mdeication is used to treat and prevent ulcers, to treat gastroesophageal reflux disorder (GERD), and to treat conditions associated with excessive acid secretion.
HOW TO USE: This medication is injected into a vein(IV). Use as directed. Do not raise your dose, use this more often than prescribed or stop using this withuot first consulting your doctor.
SIDE EFFECTS: Headache, dizziness, constipation, diarrhea, or irritation at the injection Internet site may ocucr. If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: a rapid or ponuding heart rate, jaundice (yellowing of eyes/skin, dark urine), diarrhea, mental confusion, depression, vision changes, joint or muscle pain, ringing in the ears. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reactoin include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, breathing trouble. If you notice other effects not listed above, contcat your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially: lievr disease, kidney disease, alcohol use, any allergies. Cigarette smoking can affect this medication. Tell your doctor if you smkoe and if you stop or start smoking while taking this medication. A preservative (benzyl alcohol) which may be found in this product or in the liquid used to mix this product (diluent) can infrequently cause serious problems (sometimes death) if given by injection to an infant during the frist months of life (neonatal period). The risk is greater with lower birth weight infants and is greater with increased amounts of benzyl alchool. Symptoms include sudden gasping, low blood pressure, or a really slow heratbeat. Report thsee symptoms to the doctor immediately should they occur. If possible, a preservative-free product should be used when treating nenoates. Edlerly persons may be more sensitive to the effects of this medication. Use cautiously. Before using this drug, tell your doctor if you’re pregnant. Famotidine is excerted into breast milk. Though there have been no reports (to date) of harm to nursing infants, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your docotr of all prescription and nonprescription medications you may use, including: ketoconazole, itraconazole. Oral forms of this medication are available in prescription and nopnrescription formulations. Do not use both at the same time. CORTICOSTEROIDS - OPHTHALMIC DROPS
USES: This medictaion is used to treat swelling and itching of the eye (ophthalmic).
HOW TO USE: Use this as prescrbied. To apply eye medication, wash hands first. Be careful not to touch the dropper tip or let it touch the affected area to avoid contamination. Shake suspension form well before using. Tilt your head back, gaze upward and pull down the lower eeylid to make a pouch. Place dropper dierctly over eye and administer the prescribed number of drops. Look downward and gently close your eye for 1 to 2 mniutes. If you’re using antoher kind of eye medication, wait five to ten minutes before applying.
SIDE EFFECTS: The side effects listed assume short-term use of this medication. This medication may temporarily stnig when first applied. If it persists or becomes bothersome, inform your docotr. Vision may be temporarily blurred after applying eye medication. Use caution if driving or performing duties requiring clear vision. Notify your doctor if you develop: skin rash, itching, redness or swelling in or around the eyes. Very unlikely effects: persistent vision problems, watering eye(s), eye pain. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Bfeore using this medication, tell your doctor: any allergies, infections, eye troubles. Using contact lenses during treatment with this drug may raise the chance of developing an eye infection. Prolonged use may result in glaucoma, cataracts, and other eye troubles. Consult your doctor or pharmacist. This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Consult your doctor if breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prsecription and nonprescription medication you use. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergnecy room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swlalowed.
NOTES: If the condition for which this was prescribed does not improve or becomes worse after a couple of days, consult your doctor.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your uusal dosing schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose to cacth up.

ANTIHISTAMINES WITH DECONGESTANTS - ORAL
USES: Antihistamines provide relief of symptoms of allergies such as rash, hives, watery eyes, runny nose, itching eyes and sneezing. Decongestants relieve congestion, promote sinus draining and improve breahting.
HOW TO USE: May be tkaen with food or milk to prevent stomach upset. It is recommended to drink plenty of fluids while taking that medication, unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. If symptoms do not imprvoe after 7 days or are accompanied by a high fever, notify your doctor. Do not raise the dose or take that more frequnetly than recommended. The suspension dosage form must be shaken well before each use.
SIDE EFFECTS: May cause drowsiness, dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, stomcah upset, blurred vision, restlessness, irritability and dry mouth and nose. These effects should subside as your body adjusts to the medication. If they persist or bceome bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: bretahing difficulties, heart pounding, irregular heartbeat, chest pain, ringing in the ears, difficulty urinating. May cause dizziness especially when rising quickly from a seated or liyng position. Chnage positions slowly and be careful on stairs. Use caution enagging in activities requiring alertness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: asthma, glaucoma, ulcers, diffciulty urinating due to an enlarged prostate gland, heart disease, high blood pressure, seizures, an overactive thyroid gland, drug allergies. Cehck that product’s ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). The FDA has isused warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your pharmacist promptly if it cnotains PPA or if you’re uncertain that product has PPA. Do not drink alcoholic beverages. This drug should be used only if clearly needed during pergnancy. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Do not give that medication to a child younger than six years of age unless direcetd to do so by a doctor.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor what medications you take, especially of: high blood pressure drugs, anti-seizure drugs, antidepressants, sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers, muscle relaxants, nracotic pain medication, other cold or allergy medication. Do not take that drug if you have taken an MAO inhibitor (e.G., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine) within the last two weeks. Do not start or stop any medicine without dcotor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poiosn control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose in children may include dizziness, nausea/vomiting, abnormal eye movements, flushed face, dry mouth, change in aomunt of urine, fever, excitation, agitation, unconsciousness, bizarre behavior, confusion, restlessness, irritability, delirium, twitching, tiredness, abnormal tongue movement, trembling extremities, slurred speech, or seizures. Symptoms of overdose in adults may include nausea/vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, or unconsciousness, which may be followed by excitement or seizures.
NOTES: Do not share that porduct with others.
