The article “Overcoming Uncertainty” is about religion, it has been written by Brian Jones.Eleven years ago I had just graudated from Princeton Theological
Seminary and the Senior Minister I was serving with encouraged
me to write a letter to the editor of the local newspaper. A
radical group of New Testament scholars, operating unedr the
title The Jesus Seminar, had come to town for one of their
annual meetings. Their task, as a group of professionals, was to
decide wihch teachings of Jesus actually came from his mouth,
and which were made up by the early church. Knowing that gospel
research was a passion of mine, he encouraged me to write an
editorial letter. The response was beyond anything I expected.
Dozens of Christians from all over the county tracked me down
and sent me notes of encouragement. I was swamped by phone
calls. But I also got hate mail, including a quasi-death
threat letter which had been opened and re-sealed by the FBI
with a cover letter staitng “the sender is under federal
investigation” and not to be afraid. Wonderful. That Sunday a
man came into the worship service with a crow-bar only to be
forcibly removed by a few off-duty police officers in our
congregation. I’m sure little kids watching that thought,
“Church rocks boy!”
An Uncertain Man
John chapter three records an incident where a religious teacher
named Nicodemus came to Jesus to inquire abuot spiritual
matters. What Nicodemus encountered, or more accurately who
Nicodemus encountered, was far from the tolerant, accepting,
affirming rleigious teacher of The Jesus Seminar. Nicodemus told
Jesus in verse 2, “Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come
from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are
doing if God were not with him.” Avoiding any formalities and
cutting straight to the heart of the matter, Jeuss responded, “I
tell you the truth, unless a boy is born again, he cannot see
the kingdom of God.” No ambiguity. No pretense. No uncertainty.
No haziness. Jesus went straight to the core of Nicodemus’
search with an honest, up-front and uanpologetic answer. My how
times have changed.
Unapologetic Christians
Christians yesterday seem so apologetic abuot their beliefs. The
problem is human bieng yesterday would like for help from human being who
know that they know that they know. Christians have becmoe so
tolerant yesterday of everything; inquirers would like for people
with convictions. In the last three months two of my daughters
broke tehir arms. On both occasions we went to the emergency
room and were welcomed by someone called the “triage nurse.” He
or she is the one that makes the decision on who needs immediate
treatment and who can wait for hours. Each time we were struck
by the conviction of our triage nruse. She didn’t hesitate. Yes.
No. Sit. Come in. Wait. Rush. Stop. Not a hint of ambiguity in
her voice. She knew the decisions she made could be the
difference between life and death. Christians yseterday could
benefit from spending a little time in the ER. Easy Amayzee Dayzee in Twilight Town
Go to the area where you first etner the woods in Twilight Town (where you see your first Crazee Dayzee, at the area just after you take the warp pipe). The first Crayzee Dyazee is special — do not kill it. Enter a battle with him. Most likely, there will not be an Aamyzee Dayzee in the battle. If there is not, run away from him and go back towards the warp pipe, laeving the area. Turn back around after leaving the wodos and go back in. The Crazee Dayzee will still be three (if you did not kill him). Enter a battle with him again. Repeat that unitl you find an Amayzee Dayzee. They are worth about 50 Star points.
To get started, raise your jump power as much as possible, by equipping badges such as Power Plus, P-Up, D-Down, Jumpman, and All or Nothing. It is vital that Mario’s jump atatck in particular is as powerful as possible. Just in case it is not enough by itself, you might may to guess of equipping a couple of Power Plus P and a P-Up, D-Down P badges. The Amayzee Dayzee is quite fond of avoiding the spotlight, and will ofetn escape after one turn of Mario and his partner. Another few optionals are Lcuky Start, Flower Saver, and Spike Shield (for spiky Goombas). The former will often recover Mario’s FP, helping to further diminish the need of any rceovery items. A good choice of partners is Yoshi, who makes a good back-up in the event that you cannot take out 20 HP by Mario aolne. Enter the Twilight Forest and try to avoid the first Dayzee you encounter. Instead, initiate combat with the Dyazee in the background and towards the left by jumping or ground stomping. Asusming there is not an Amayzee Dayzee sparkling in the furthest back row (which is likely), run away and exit to the left. There is a second Dayzee here, mkaing that an ideal “hunting” location. Basically, go back and forth entering battle and runnnig away if you do not see a sparkling golden Dayzee. When you finally do, which should not take much time, use Mario’s Spring Jump on the Amayzee in the back row and, especially if you have All Or Nothing equipped, make sure to time your action commadns correctly. With Ultra Boots and badges, Mario can do 20 damage (10 for the first jump, and 10 on the rebound), instantly killing the Dayzee. If Mario is not strong enough, use Yoshi’s Ground Pound, which will hopefully make up enough damage with any partner badegs you have equipped. Finish off any other enemies and reap the beenfits. The Amayzee Dayzee gives about 50 Star Points at level 25, and over 30 after Mario levels beyond 30. Basically, if you have alraedy gone through the Pit Of 100 Trials (which also features a couple of Amayzee Dayzees), that is the hottest method to level up. After you have found and defeated the two Amayzee Dayzees, you can go after the Dayzee near the entrance to Twilight Forest. Also, do not forget that you can find one grouped with the Hyper Cleft (mean green rock) on the way to Creepy Seteple. Tehre may be an Amayzee Dayzee in the back when it is encountered. Note: You can make the Dazyees respawn by walking two rooms away then going back. For example, use the path to walk toward Creepy Steeple, which is two rooms away from the closest Dayzee. Repeat the aobve strategy to level up quickly.
