Crucible is an Age of Conan guild dedicated to loyalty, achievement and the full enjoyment of the Age of Conan experience. We are a guild for the war hungry and the war weary, for those who have been betrayed and those who have been blessed.

Other then Gm of the guild, all officers have not been selected. They will be selected from members within the guild sometime from open beta through a few months into release. I like to get new blood in the mix, although we do bring some extremely experienced officers from other chapters in this guild.

Members: Well your members. You are expected to make raids/pvp and pitch in when you can.

Quick Summary

Honor - All members represent Receipt Upon death in and outside of the game. We do not tolerate any in or out of game behavior that doesn’t represent RuD in the proper manner. “Ie flaming on guild sites or the main forum/Repeated slurs against other players.” That doesn’t mean we are clean when we talk, but you know when you cross the line.

Rud was created by a group of friends a long time ago under various other names. Through the years we have progressed to high end game play. RuD has been competing in professional tourneys for the last 4 years. The core of RuD are hardcore players with some weekend warriors thrown into the mix.

Guild Formed: About 9 years ago.

OOR Officers: Depending on the circumstances there are usually a few of these out of raid officers. These officers take care of leading groups of members in harvesting mats to help out the guild. Or by performing other tasks. These players generally are online a decent amount before raids or after raids. It also helps to be very well organized as this positions can sometimes be hard without proper organization.

Respect - Our membership is made up of many different personalities and experiences. All members must work to keep the bs to a minimum. All in all officers/gm have the end word which isn’t negotiable.

Guild Structure

Guild Name: Receipt Upon Death

Gm: This is pretty self explanatory. The gm runs all high level operations of the guild. The gm is also responsible for promotions and removal of guild members.

Background:

Friendship - This I believe in strongly. Primarly you are online to have fun and actually progress in the game. I have found over the years players who are lifers in the guild are also players who can get along and who enjoy to play the game as much as everyone else.

RuD members are expected to follow these principals:

First let me start by saying this, we are not a start up guild. We will also not be a zerg guild “100-200 members recruiting as fast as possible no matter the quality”. Our main goal is to bring back the tight nit family guilds used to be. We have been around for a pretty long time and you as a member will see benefits from this immediately. What you will get with the experience of RuD members and officers is a fast paced, well organized, drama free environment. We aim to have a blast while still being able to progress in the game. Our end goal is to run end game raids and have our RuD events (consists of pvp and other fun stuff). Our age restriction is 20+. Like most other high end guilds Vent is required but a mic is optional.

Class Officers: There is one class officer per age of conan gold class.”IE Tank, Healers, Offensive Casters, Dps” This officer is expected to have a decent amount of knowledge about their class. The CO is is expected to lead their class during raids. CO’s also give assistance to their class members in making proper decisions on specs,gear, and other areas their members have questions about. During raids the raid leader will give orders to the class leader in which the class leader will setup their class properly for each encounter. The class leader is also responsible to know who has what gear and what spec before each raid. This allows the class leader to make the appropriate decision of who should be in the raid and who shouldn’t. The CO is also a moderator of their own forum. This is an excellent way to give information about strats/items/events for their class. Depending on the looting system the CO generally speaks up for the class on cross class gear. This creates an organized way of distributing cross class items. Cross class gear is usually posted up and the CO’s select what and what not should be looted to his class based on their class members votes. I find that most CO’s who are successful are not only demanding of their class but also make it enjoyable for their class to play. These are usually players who are online a large amount of time or make aoc gold a large amount of raids. These players also have a in depth knowledge of their class and strats.

Guild Type: We are a mixture of semi-hardcore - hardcore raiding guild with some PvP thrown into the mix.

Application: All applications should be filled out on the RuD forums. Please visit the forums for more information. We are a member reference only guild, however we are accepting applications for a few slots I want filled asap.

Initiates: New members to the guild. Generally less then 3 weeks old. In order to make it out of this position you must show that you belong in the guild. This can be done by showing that you have exceptional skills in the game or by stepping up and assisting the guild in various other tasks that are necessary.

Gm Officers: These two officers are the highest level officers in RuD. These officers are responsible for DKP, Guild Bank, and scheduling raids. After RuD raids a few times these officers will also take control in leading raids. In absence of the GM these officers will control the guild and operations there of until the gm is online. Generally these are players that are online a large amount of time and have extensive knowledge of running raids or have shown the abilities of doing such.

Assistant Class Officers: There is one assistant class officer per class. Its the same description as above but with slightly less power. The assistant class officer acts as a consultant to the Class Officer. In the absence of the Class officer he/she will take on the full duties of the CO. The ACO is generally selected by the class officer. However it still has to be approved by the gm in order to put the correct person in this position.

Combos Not Connecting and Rediculous Evasion Rates

The current evade levels are rediculous. When fighting an opponent who is not moving I often hit clobber (hitting thin air so I move-cancel), hit clobber again (hitting thin air so I move-cancel), hit clobber again now it is connecting so I let animation play through —>> load up a 4 direction combos (hitting thin air so move cancel), use stunning punch (hitting thin air so move-cancel), reuse stunning punch and let animation play through because its connecting, load up a 4 direction combo and it lands, player starts to run and im hitting his back (dodge, parry, dodge, miss, dodge).

Edit: The June 23 Patch has not alleviated this issues. All physical damage attacks continue to be avoided through dodge/parry at a rate of 30% or more in PVP on characters who have a listed 6% evasion rate.

After doing several tests I have discovered what is actually happening with combos (note: all testing was pvp testing against pvp opponents). The latest patch has made evade rates so high that 30%+ of combos and melee attacks you launch will be miss/dodge/parry/block and simply not land. Here is what happens when you launch a combo that is going to be evaded:

The combo animation plays, age of conan gold but none of your hits appear to land. Once the animation plays FULLY through you will see DODGE/PARRY/MISS/BLOCK.

Thats right, if you cancel a combo that is hitting thin air (because at the end of the animation is was going to be evaded) and simply move during the animation you will be able to relaunch your combo. This will still cost you the stamina of the combo but will prevent your combo from going on cooldown so that you can reuse it.

This is how rediculous evasion is right now. To test it aoc gold yourself simply swing at a friend who is afk 100 times. He will auto dodge and parry 30% of your attacks.

One can only assume that evasion rates are currently bugged considering how high they are. Now here is a general gaming tip to everyone which should help them drastically until the evasion bug is fixed. Cancel your combos.

Colossus of War (stacks 20 times, 49.7 [roughly] added DPS with x20. Takes too long to get up, and once more does nothing~ except help your regular hits.)

Cold Steel + Frostbite (To spend a total of 6 points into this skill requires much higher return values than given, useless.)

1) 20% Damage at 10 Stacks (Damage does not aoc gold increase your style damage) - So, not only does it take forever to get up there unless you are against a melee group, and not hybrid or caster heavy. When it gets that high, the whole damage goes right out the window.

Default Magical Spec for Conq? Or are we just broke?

Improved Furious Inspiration (Vague skill description, bonuses are negligible for 5 points)

2) Our heal from Furious Inspiration is a joke, right? I mean, someone thought it’d be totally funny to make this heal? I hope so, because that’s what I take it as. All the things this skill does, and how they all do nothing. Amazing, bravo. Don’t even bother spec’ing in it, don’t bother looking at it, don’t even bother hoping it procs, because it does not matter.

Throat Slash (Good to use to interupt combos, awful because it wastes stun immunity timer, and only lasts 0.5 seconds. Seriously, fix.)

I was fairly positive when I read the description age of conan gold of my class, it said I was supposed to be the highest DPS out of the three soldiers. I’ve yet to see this happen, our DPS seems rivaled - perhaps equal, but not higher than the Dark Templar, and our DPS is a joke compared to a Guardian. Post-Overreach nerf, even. 4.6K damage hits anyone?

Two-Handed Mastery (I’ve not seen an effect on skill DPS)

Angel of Fury (Doesn’t proc FI near enough to make it worth it, and FI proc’ing isn’t near valuable enough either.)

Procs don’t even count sometimes (not refering to when an attack gets parried, blocked, or misses; they just don’t register)

10% Resurrection (OH BOY!!)

Astonishing, you’ve built an entire class around a broken skill, Funcom. That’s impressive, and yet so linear! We need a major overhall, we need to be able to bring more to the table than a broken skill that has zero functionality in PvP combat.

Furious Inspiration is a joke, it’s laughable, it’s a gun with a bunch of shiny bells, whistles, and swavorski crystals attached to it. Pretty to look at, makes it feel special, but totally useless.

Sustained Rage (Doesn’t even work, but if it did, worthless. Another DPS skill that doesn’t effect skill DPS.)

If so, PM it to me. I’d be happy to pick it apart.

Impossible to proc if opposing group is caster based

5 minute cool down

Mocking Sneer (5% damage, rarely procs in PvP, and once more damage does nothing for skills, rendering it useless.)

Cunning Deflection (Make most of you don’t seem to understand is it’s not 50% return damage, it’s 280-400 damage return no matter WHAT their attack damage is making it trash.)

Here is a list of feats I’ve found almost if not totally useless:

Deep Wounds (This skill is a joke, right? Funny, 5 points for 14 damage!)

Oh, and let’s not forget the resurrection immunity rarely works with Conq rez.

So, to all the players in these forums that know what they are talking about. Is there so magical spec, that only when you believe hard enough appears, or are you just as broken and sick of this class as I am?

Heroic Call (Yay! 4 points to get something that lasts for 10 seconds, increase the time)

The only thing we have worthwhile is the Brute skill tree line, for obvious reason to those done the testing. However, that skill only procs off melee hits which once more renders us still fairly age of conan gold useless. Great! We get to float in PvP and remain untouched, too bad 2 knockdowns, a .5 second stun, and a root does not make an amazing CC class. Nor can we kill anything with this amazing floating ability.

3) I realize our class has become very haute couture from all the ignorant, or just plain dumb subscribers out there raving on about our magical resurrection. This skill is essentially has zero use in PvP, minigames especially. Think about it, you are relying on dying and on a skill that brings you back with 10% health at that. Let’s break it down:

With most classes, there is a fine-tuned spec that gives them an up. To all those that say Bear Shamans suck, or Guardians can’t do damage; you are insane, ignorant, and ill-informed. Dark Templars, Conquerers and Assassins are the top 3 most useless classes.

These are not meant to be rules to being a good Guardian, but rather a happy one. I have found in my tanking career in many MMOs that when I break these commandments, I’m in for aoc gold a quick shot of misery. Feel free to add/modify.

So Funcom when are you going to man the **** up and make my polearm look realistic again?

Its been 2 weeks you have until Thursday to make my polearm look badass or i will buy a plane ticket and fly out to finland or wherever the **** you fruitcakes live, hide in the bushes outside your headquarters aoc gold until i see someone that looks like they work there exit, jump out and charge them while wielding my homemade but deadly replica of a real polearm. At which point i will hold them hostage until my demands are met.

You have been warned

Look i was fine swinging my aoc gold polearm like a baseball bat i understand you phail miserably at coding and animation and have no concept of how polearms were actually used in combat, but when you made my polearm look like a broom stick with the straw end broken off you crossed the ****ing line. I am not a goddamn hobbit and i will not stand to use weapons made for one.

Reduces the immunity penalty when in frenzy stance by 30% at 3 points. Generally when in frenzy at -70% to immunities or -100% immunities you’re still going to be taking a lot extra damage. The saving grace is its use in solo PvE. Many people report having success grinding in frenzy stance using this talent. It’s a talent that’s easily passed up for uses other than in a grinding/leveling build.

The shield and sword knockdown combo. Perfect for knocking down, not so good for anything else. Useful regardless of spec and weapon choice. Smaller range than stagger but can gain a snare effect through feats.

III: leve 68

I: level 5

A very solid combo that lowers the damage of any target hit by the combo. The combo does a very solid amount of damage and has a good number of feats which improve upon it. A very important combo for any PvE situations as a sword and shield guardian.

I couldn’t find any information about this talent. Let me know so I can fill it out! I can’t see it being rated any higher than Goad Mob though. Chances are this and Goad mob go hand in hand and if you get one the other one is probably also a worthy investment.

Hateful Strikes***

Gives a small chance (10% at 3 point investment) to regain health when hit by a spell in defensive stance. This feat only works in defensive stance and is reported to give back only a small amount of health. It’s still additional regeneration and life recovery so it has its uses for a tanking build but it’s not significant enough to be of a major concern.

I: level 15

Gives 1% immunities to Piercing, Crushing, Slashing, Poison per point. This feat is a good return on investment for physical immunities and a great investment for any tank.

Default

Here I will try to give a short overview of each feat and a description of what it does. I’m going to rate each feat with *s from 1 to 5 with 5 being the best as an overall indicator of how useful you may find this skill. This by no means is absolute as spec and goal of your class really can determine how much you get from a particular feat. if you have a strong disagreement with one of my ratings by all means share your opinion. There’s no way I can try out each feat to it’s fullest potential so I’m relying a lot on the forum and feedback to come up with these ratings.

I: level 36

Cunning Deflection**

Improves the damage bonus of Frenzy stance (+10% at 3 points). It’s a 10% increase in frenzy stance damage. Depending on your play style this is a great talent or completely worthless. If you want to use frenzy stance a lot or get big hits this is a good investment.

Goad**

Deals damage but reduces your damage by 10% if you connect with age of conan gold it. Currently this combo only does a moderate/small amount of damage over dulling blow. if you’re s/s you’re stuck making use of this to deal damage but it’s no longer a powerhouse combo.

Adds a permanent damage shield to the defensive stance, does not strike back as much damage as counter strike stance but both can be active at one time. This feat suffers from the same problem as its requirement. The retaliation damage just isn’t enough to make it a must have. Again this feat might be good for a ’spiky’ build but otherwise don’t feel bad for passing it by.

Pretty much the must have talent for any guardian. This talent gives a large amount of in and out of combat health recovery to the guardian and is vital for both PvP, Leveling, and Tanking in PvE. At level 80 this is reported to give around +173.5 natural regen.

Anticipation**

Provides a 6% chance to regenerate health when hit in defensive stance (at 3 points). The damage returns is rather small and apparently doesn’t scale very well. Still provides a boost for tanking at a point where you need anything you can get.

1 hand and shield combos

Surging Health**

Guard Destroyer**

Combo that deals moderate damage and drains stamina from all targets. A staple combo for any guardian regardless of spec or weapon choice. The stamina that can be regained from using this combo can be a life saver. You may not need to use this every time it’s up but it’s a very very handy combo.

AoE taunt around the guardian to draw the attention of monsters. Has a 5 minute cooldown. If you are doing serious PvE tanking then you will likely need this skill for emergencies. Still doesn’t change the fact that its an excessively long cooldown.

Improved Goad Mob**

This feat provides an ability that reflects 50% of the damage of the next attack the guardian is struck with along with a 20 second damage shield buff. The ability is on a 30 second cooldown. A micro heavy talent that reduces the damage of the next attack and provides damage shield. Generally regarded as too tough to use effectively and too long of a cooldown to mitigate a significant portion of damage. This ability may be useful for fights that involve slow hitting monsters or monsters with a predictable hard hitting ability.

IV: level 72

II: level 32

Plexus Strike*****

Grants an ability that will cause you to deal mediocre amounts of damage when struck in defensive stance. This damage scales with level but not very well. Overall this talent has use in a ’spiky’ build making heavy use of reflective damage but beyond that not it can easily be passed up. I believe this is an activated ability but I don’t have any concrete numbers on duration/cooldown (feel free to help me out!).

General Tree

Adds life regeneration to defensive stance. When maxed appears to be about 1/3rd of what you get from recovery. This is a very valuable talent for PvE tanking as well as a great tool to have in PvP. Being able to go defensive stance and regen large amounts of hitpoints in combat is very effective. Taking this talent also allows you fight much higher level mobs with sword + shield and defensive stance for fast experience.

Dulling Blow****

A single target taunt to make a monster attack you. 2 minute cooldown. This talent appears to be bugged and occasionally not work or bug out. Assuming that this is fixed this talent still has a long cooldown for its effect. None the less this is going to be an important emergency talent for tanking and is only a single point investment.

Counterstrike*****

Gives 1% immunity to Fire, Electrical, Cold, Holy, and Unholy per point for a 5% maximum.

II: ?

Deals damage and causes monsters attacking the guardian to aoc gold take damage. This is your most important skill as a shield guardian in PvE (both solo and group). Does good initial damage plus significant amounts of retaliatory damage to all targets hit by the combo.

Improved Defensive Stance****

Adds to your melee damage. Reported to be +9.1 Damage at level 80 with 3 points invested. It’s nothing special or must have but will give you a solid boost to your DPS.

IV: level 64

20% damage increase for 20 seconds 2 minute cooldown. A great talent for damage or PvP focused builds. Allows you to spike some damage at key moments. If you have 20+ points in the general tree and are planning on doing more than PvE tanking that you should get this talent. Also stacks with the damage buff of juggernaut.

A combo dealing damage and increases damage done to all targets hit by the combo. Has a very high stamina cost and only adds a static amount of additional damage every time an affected target is hit.

Active ability that increases the threat you generate. It’s a 10 second effect with a 2 minute cooldown. The short duration and long cooldown limits the effectiveness of this talent. The saving grace of the talent is that it boosts your threat generation rather than just grabbing a mobs attention. This means that even after the buff fades the mob will still pay attention to you.
