Angry Some info regarding the bear shaman(+FAQ/tips) Hello,first off,at the moment of this writing i am a 71 bear shaman on a pvp server(with 2 previous bear shamans in the betas). This is by no means meant to be a “THE ONLY WAY TO PLAY BEAR SHAMAN!” guide,this is just some information and my experience with certain things,take it as an advice,nothing more,nothing less. I would also like to thank the people who added their opinions and their insight into certain things(and i feel i have credited everyone who added anything even remotely useful). I do believe i have some experience with how we work in pvp and pve and i want to share some things with the community.With that being said,lets start: We are not as powerful as the other 2 priest classes,we can not AOE mobs like them nor can we grind like that,we can solo 2-3 mobs without any problems after level 20 and we are a great solo/group class. However,we are the most versatile class in game,we bring buffs,debuffs,healing,damage and plenty of other things to the table. We are desired in teams because of our heals,many people do not understand how big of a benefit we are,simply because they do not bother to learn the toolset of other classes. Our spells are mostly self only(apart from Rune of Resilience,Claws of Corruption and Rune of Resistance,those are party wide),we do damage with combos(other priests do damage with spells,they use mana,while we use stamina),this is a double edged sword. The fact that we separate mana from our damage means that we can do damage and not have to worry about mana,however without stamina we are useless(and when you are out of stamina you get a huge debuff on your evade chance/casting concentration),again it is another thing you have to manage,so get used to it if you plan to play this class to 80 With the above being said,it does not mean that we do not USE mana,we are not depending on mana to do damage,however,a good bear shaman will be using his debuffs(and buffs) which drain mana(enfeeble/hostile territory/roar/rune of aggression). At raids or 6 man dungeons(like Atzels or Onyx chamber for example),you should be killing mobs in about 20-30 seconds(they are level 80-82 elites),that means you will be using your debuffs to weaken the mobs and thus help your team survive.(the debuffs will recharge before the next pull,roughly speaking in terms of kill/time ratio) We can use the following pieces of armor and weapons: Armors=Cloth,Light,Medium armor,all pieces.(more in the armor section) Weapons=2 handed blunt,crossbows,bows and thrown weapons.(more in the weapons section) All in all,it is a fun class,provided you do not have problems with micro management,enjoy multi tasking and like to work on your character Now lets go over to the newbie island! 1.1 Tortage We(like everyone else) start on Tortage and after watching the intro(which gives you an idea on what just happened),you should talk with Kallanthas(sp?) and he will give you more info. Now before going from the beach into your own adventure,look to the left(crocs,kill them for xp ) and to the right(same+boss drops a nice ring). Once you clear them all,you should be level 2 or 3,talk to the female that is chained up and kill the first mob,get the key and free her,once you have done that,go left(and right) and kill the bosses(and loot your first weapon! \o/). Once you do this,things are pretty straightforward untill you enter Tortage(at level 5). In Tortage,just try to get a “feel” for your class,i won’t lie to you people,we plainly suck at lower levels. We are TERRIBLE at levels 5-14,but,do not judge a class based on this,you won’t have problems killing 2 mobs at a time provided you think a bit and use pots(they will be your main source of healing until 15) and after level 20,you will start to love the class. As soon as you do your first destiny quest(only doable during the nighttime) you will get your first hammer(a significant upgrade,both looks and damage wise,to the club) I suggest you just solo and try to get a feel of the game untill level 12-15,then try grouping and doing some picts in the Acheronian ruins. I also suggest that you do ALL of your quests on Tortage,since they will give you some starting money. If you rolled on a pvp server,get used to dieing a lot in the Underhalls(the meeting place of all the losers) and White Sands Islands(dead race between that and Underhalls),be ready to get spawn camped and my advice is just get over it,there is nothing you can do about it.
All in all,it is a fun class,provided you do not have aoc gold problems with micro management,enjoy multi tasking and like to work on your character
