Friday Update: Screenshots For You

Earlier this week, we gave you aoc gold the screenshots we gave to the press at CES. Today, we present some screenshots we haven’t given to anyone but you, so you can see how the game is coming along.

These Screenshots were taken on the beta servers running the current beta build so they’re as current as you get without bribing a developer.

We also announced the Collector’s Edition this week, so if you missed that, the goodies will be:

Eidos and Funcom have organized an exclusive Age of Conan GM tour for the press in a cinema in central London next week (Thursday, 13 March 2008).

Product Manager Erling ‘Lord Orion’ Ellingsen and Community Manager Oliver ‘Tarib’ Kunz will be there to show the game and it turns out we have room for a few crazy Brits at this event.

To win one of the 9 spots, all you have to do is email contest@ageofconan.com with the subject “The King is coming to the UK!” In the email, you should finish the sentence:

“I want to meet King Conan because…”

The 9 best entries will get themselves one seat age of conan gold each for this exclusive presentation of the game.

Please keep in mind you will have to get yourself to the event in central London, as the contest only includes entry to the event. All the necessary details will be revealed to the lucky winners, but we have to stay tight-lipped here, because we’ve had the cops called on us a time or two for the crush of fans we attract and attendance is strictly limited.

Today we’re launching a new video series called The Hyborian Insider.

These videos are meant to show you the game and its features using actual gameplay footage. Thanks to the wonders of bluescreen technology, we even manage to put Funcom’s Erling Ellingsen age of conan gold into it so he can explain what’s going on.

Take a look at the new Age of Conan interview available in both an English and a German version at Onlinewelten.com.

The German online gaming portal Onlinewelten.com features an interview with Product Manager Erling Ellingsen that is available in both English and German version. It touches upon anything from DirectX 10 to Core Duo support, cheating and different gameplay features.

Here is a small excerpt from the interview aoc gold :

“Cheating is always a tough theme. What is your strategy against cheaters?

We have a zero tolerance towards cheaters. In the past, with our other MMO Anarchy Online, we’ve struck down on them harshly. People who break such rules will be banned. On the other side, our developers are working hard on creating systems that will minimize the possibilities of cheating. We’re being proactive about this, trying to beat the cheaters to it.”

Gamespot have posted their impression of Age of Conan after seeing the game at Microsoft’s X06 event!

Here is a little of what they had to say:

“Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures is more than a simply massively multiplayer online hack and slash-fest. Oh, make no mistake, the game based on Robert E. Howard’s classic tales of the boozing, brawling, babe-loving barbarian king will offer you plenty of opportunities to get to the wetworks with your favorite edged weapon on all sorts of enemies. It just isn’t all there is to do in this multifaceted game, as we discovered on the floor of X06 today.

The game was set up on two different aoc gold PC stations in the Microsoft game lounge; one PC was showing off the game’s gorgeous and massive landscapes which will serve as the backdrop for your heroic enterprises in the game. We saw two main areas on display, a sandblasted, mountainous desert and a thick, lush forest. On setting alone, the two areas couldn’t have been more different, yet they both shared an uncanny design that was equal parts pure imagination and realistic, believable aoc gold landscape.”

E3 Day Three

The last day of the show is upon us! So what have we got to show for our efforts today? How about a selection of great video features for starters!

Interest in the game age of conan gold certainly isn’t letting up on Day Three! Game Director Gaute Godager sat down with Gamespot bright and early for a live stage demonstration of the game as part of their E3Live show! You can check it out here

German site OnlineWelten also have a set of videos up showing some footage of the game!

Keeping up with the video theme today Loadedinc.com have a video interview with developer Jason Stone online as well if you want to catch yet another glimpse of the game in action! Not to leave it at the videos we have also updated the concept art gallery with a selection of images from our E3 presskit.

So that’s almost it for this year from E3. We have seen a great many journalists aoc gold , and talked to a lot of fans over the course of the show so we will be sure to keep you up to date with all the articles and features as they appear over the coming days!

Age of Conan invades Dreamhack!

Age of Conan is set to invade Dreamhack, the world’s largest LAN event according to the Guinness Book of World Records, next week.

According to the people behind the world’s largest LAN event, around 10.000 people are expected to make their way to Jönköping in Sweden this weekend. Starting on the16th of June, thousands upon thousands of gamers will finally be meeting their online friends in real life.

Funcom will be present at Dreamhack on Monday 18th of June. At 16:00 local time Age of Conan will be demoed live on-stage, and we expect all of you Hyborians who happen to be there to let out a big roar when we arrive.

We will also include around 7000 DVDs in the so-called “goody bags” that will be made available to participants of Dreamhack. These DVDs will include screenshots, videos and information about the game. And, we shouldn’t really be telling you this yet, but 500 of the DVDs will also include beta keys!
